Linking Policy

Thank you for your interest in linking to Caregiver Connect. It is a web service provided by VON Canada. It provides a trusted sources of useful, authoritative and timely information and support for Canadian caregivers.

The purpose of Caregiver Connect is to provide the information, resources and supports caregivers need to:

         care for themselves

         provide better quality care to their family members and/or friends

         connect and share with other caregivers.

 We encourage other web sites to link to Caregiver Connect.

 

Linking TO Caregiver Connect

Please use the following guidelines to set a link to Caregiver Connect.

Caregiver Connect does NOT endorse companies, products or services, and strictly prohibit any suggestion of endorsement, recommendation, or superiority of one company, product or service over another company, product or service.

Caregiver Connect does not allow framing of its Web site. When setting up a link to Caregiver Connect, it should open in a new Web browser window rather than displaying the pages in a frame of the linking site's Web template, when frames are used in the site's design.

Linking FROM Caregiver Connect

Caregiver Connect is guided by a Quality Assurance Framework. [link to framework]

Caregiver Connect works with the Content Advisory Panel to ensure that the following authorship and resource selection criteria are met.

Authorship criteria checklist:

  • Is it a Canadian organization? VON gives preference to Canadian content sources. 

  • Is it a corporation or organization? VON does not link to the Web Sites of individuals.

  • Does the organization have timely and credible information?

  • Is it a non-profit organization?  VON gives preference to non-profit entities.

  • Is it a commercial organization? VON does not provide links from the site to external commercial sites except as specified by a pre-existing sponsorship agreement/contract, partnership or other contractual business relationship.

Resource quality checklist:

  • Is the resource credible?

  • Is authorship clearly stated?

  • Is the source a professionally or legally accredited authority?

  • Has the resource been subjected to peer review?

  • If a non-professional gives medical information, is this fact clearly stated?

  • Are original sources clearly referenced?

  • Are claims relating to treatments or specific health promotion/disease prevention services supported by appropriate, balanced evidence?

Resource selection checklist:

  • Is the resource usable?

  • Is the content appropriate?

  • Is the resource up to date?

  • Has there been adequate disclosure?

  • Are there clear and adequate caveats?

  • Is the interface usable?

When Caregiver Connect includes links to other sites, VON Canada does not assume any responsibility or liability for any communications or materials available at the sites to which it links, including responsibility or liability for their accuracy.  

No link on Caregiver Connect is a referral or endorsement of either the linked-to entity or any product or service. Such links are provided for information purposes and convenience only.
